Fiber Optic Cable Installation in Abu Dhabi, Dubai & UAE
Quicknet Computers is a specialist fiber optic cabling and termination company serving Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, with Dubai and other emirates handled on a project basis from our Abu Dhabi team (Quicknet has no office in Dubai). From single-mode backbone runs between buildings to multi-mode in-building risers, FTTH home networks and OM4 / OM5 data centre links — we design, install, splice and certify fiber to TIA-568, ISO/IEC 11801 and BICSI standards.
Our team handles every component: cable supply, civil work coordination, ducting, conduiting, fusion splicing, OTDR testing, cable management, patching, labelling and as-built documentation. ISO and ICV certified (ICV certificate available on request).
What's the difference between single-mode and multi-mode fiber?+
Single-mode (OS2) carries a single light path and is used for long-distance and high-speed links between buildings, data centres, and telecom backbones — typical reach 10–100 km. Multi-mode (OM3 / OM4 / OM5) carries multiple light paths and is used for short-distance, in-building applications like server rooms, risers and 40G / 100G data centre links — typical reach 100–550 m.
Do you provide OTDR testing and certification?+
Yes — every fiber project we install includes bidirectional OTDR testing, insertion loss and optical return loss measurements, and a printed PDF certification report acceptable for warranty, compliance and government tender acceptance.
How much does fiber optic installation cost in Abu Dhabi?+
Indicative pricing: indoor multi-mode 12-core run with patching and certification typically AED 8,000–15,000 per 100m segment; single-mode outdoor armoured 24-core with civil work runs higher — between AED 25,000 and AED 100,000+ depending on cable length, fibre count, civil work, splicing volume and termination type. Which fiber cable brands do you supply?+
We supply and install Corning, Commscope, Belden, Nexans, Siemon, 3M, Panduit, Schneider Electric and Norden — choosing the right brand based on application, budget and warranty preference.
Can you provide emergency fiber repair?+
Yes. We offer an AMC emergency fiber repair service for AMC clients — typical response under 2 hours within Abu Dhabi for AMC clients; Dubai on a project basis. Engineers attend with mobile splicing kits and OTDR units; replacement fiber lengths and spares are sourced through our suppliers, with lead time confirmed in the quote, to restore service after construction damage or rodent break.
Do you handle ducting, civil work and trenching?+
Yes. We coordinate civil work, ducting, microducts, hand-holes and direct-burial — either with our in-house team or partner civil contractors. Required for outdoor runs across compounds, between buildings or in industrial sites.
Are you ICV-certified for government / ADNOC tenders?+
Yes — Quicknet Computers is ICV (In-Country Value) certified and ISO certified; the ICV certificate is available on request.
What is structured cabling and how does fiber optic cabling fit into it?+
Structured cabling is a standard, organised cabling system for a building, made of copper and fiber cables, patch panels, racks and outlets that carry data, voice and other services. Fiber optic cabling usually forms the backbone between floors, buildings and racks, while copper cabling serves the desks and devices. Planning both together keeps the network easy to expand and support. We design the layout at the site survey.

More answers about warranty, compliance, integration, response times and ongoing AMC support.
Do you provide OTDR / Fluke test reports after installation?+
Yes. Every Quicknet fiber installation comes with full Tier-1 (insertion loss / length / polarity) and where required Tier-2 (OTDR trace) test reports for every strand, delivered as a PDF with labelled patch panels and a port schedule. Standard for ISO 9001 and TDRA-grade deliveries.
Can you splice fiber into our existing patch panels?+
Yes. We carry out fusion splicing on-site (Sumitomo / Fujikura splicers) and integrate new strands into existing LC/SC/MTP patch panels without disrupting live links — usually during agreed maintenance windows.
How long does a typical fiber-optic installation take?+
A 24-strand inter-building run (cable tray, splicing, testing, patching, documentation) typically takes a few days depending on route and access. A full multi-floor building backbone (8-16 cores per riser) takes 5-10 working days. Quicknet always provides a Gantt before mobilising.
Do you handle permits for outdoor fiber runs?+
Yes. For external runs (between buildings, across roads, into ducts), we coordinate with the municipality and the telecom operator (Etisalat / du) and prepare the drawings and method statements they require. Civil works and ducting are arranged with our approved sub-contractors.
Do we need fiber if we already have Cat6A?+
Yes for backbones. Cat6A handles 10 Gbps to 100 m, but campus-distance runs, building-to-building connections, and high-bandwidth data-center rows need fiber. We typically install fiber backbones with Cat6A horizontal runs to workstations — best of both.
Can fiber be installed in an existing occupied building?+
Yes. Standard practice: pre-pulled fiber routes during overnight or weekend windows, splicing in active patch closets during agreed maintenance windows, parallel test patching before cutover, then live migration of switches. We plan occupied-building installs for overnight and weekend windows to avoid interruption.
How do you handle fiber going outdoor / between buildings?+
Armoured single-mode (OS2) fiber pulled through ducts or aerial trays, with closure boxes at building entry points. We coordinate with the municipality and the telecom operator and prepare the drawings they require. We also do direct-burial in fields and through retaining walls with civil sub-contractors.
Is there a difference between fusion splicing and mechanical splicing?+
Yes. Fusion splicing (Sumitomo, Fujikura splicers) heats and melts two fiber ends together — typical loss ~0.05 dB, very reliable, what we normally use. Mechanical splicing uses a small alignment housing — typical loss 0.3-0.5 dB, no power needed, only for emergency field repairs.
