Installation Options

Three Ways to Install — Matched to Each Vehicle

OBD-II Plug-and-Play

A 5-minute install through the standard OBD-II port under the dashboard. Best for light vehicles, small delivery cars and short-term rentals. Reports core location, speed and mileage data — the trade-off is that it can be unplugged easily.

Hardwired Units

A 15–45 minute concealed-wiring install. Supports CAN-bus for true fuel consumption and ECU engine data, capacitive fuel sensors for tamper-proof tanks, and iButton/RFID driver ID. The right choice for commercial fleets and heavy trucks.

Battery-Powered Asset Trackers

Magnetic-mount units that run 2–5 years with no external power. Used for heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, generators), trailers, containers and remote assets. Reports every 15 minutes to 6 hours to conserve battery life.

Live Reporting

Update Rates, Alerts and Trip Playback

Modern tracking platforms update location every 10–30 seconds while moving and every 5–15 minutes while stationary — balancing live accuracy against SIM data use. The update rate can be tuned per vehicle type (power-saving mode for heavy equipment, high-frequency for last-mile delivery). Every deployment includes:

  • Live location on a real-time map
  • Geofencing: entry and exit alerts (polygon or radius)
  • Harsh braking and harsh acceleration alerts
  • Speeding alerts (set per vehicle)
  • Extended idle-time alerts
  • After-hours movement alerts
  • Historical trip playback (up to a year)
  • Engine-hours and daily-mileage reports
  • Maintenance reminders (mileage, engine hours or date)
  • Mobile app for managers and drivers
  • Email, SMS and WhatsApp notifications
  • API for integration with external systems
Compliance & Privacy

UAE Compliance, Straight Talk — TDRA, RTA and PDPL

TDRA Type-Approval

Any GPS device installed in the UAE must comply with Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) device type-approval requirements. We install approved equipment, but we are not the certifying body — telematics type-approval is issued by TDRA alone.

RTA & ITC Compliance

For taxis, limousines and school buses, Dubai's RTA and Abu Dhabi's ITC set specific tracking requirements. We install trackers that meet the platform's published specification; the operator confirms the RTA or ITC requirements for the vehicle class, and the licence is issued by the relevant authority.

Driver Privacy Under PDPL

UAE labour law and the Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law 45/2021 — PDPL) require written disclosure to drivers that tracking exists and why, before it goes live. We recommend a transparent, signed policy inside the employment contract. Adopting and enforcing that policy is the employer's responsibility, not Quicknet's.

Salik & Darb — Separate Systems

Salik (Dubai) and Darb (Abu Dhabi) are RTA-operated toll systems, separate from GPS tracking. Some platforms can retroactively match Salik trips against GPS trips, but we do not operate Salik or Darb and make no such claim.

Brands & Platforms

Devices and Platforms We Work With

GPS hardware: Teltonika, Queclink, Concox, Calamp. Telematics platforms: Geotab, Samsara, Mix Telematics, Webfleet, MoveOn, Cartrack, Wialon. AI dashcams: Streamax, Howen, SmartWitness. Fuel sensors: Technoton, Omnicomm, Escort. Connectivity: Etisalat and du business M2M SIM cards.

⚠ Accuracy note: Quicknet is an independent, brand-neutral integrator. We do not claim Gold or Platinum partnership with any platform listed above. Platform selection is based on actual project requirements — fleet size, budget, integration needs — not distributor commissions.

Integrations

Integrating Tracking With Your Existing Systems

ERP Systems

Integration with SAP, Odoo, QuickERP and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service to link fleet trips to work orders, invoicing and staff timesheet reports.

Dispatch & Operations

Job assignment, arrival-time tracking, customer notifications and route optimisation — integrated with your existing dispatch platform or through dispatch software we supply.

Fuel Cards

Matching ENOC and ADNOC Distribution fuel-card transactions against GPS trips to catch fraud — was the card actually used at that fuel station, and does the volume match tank capacity and fuel-gauge data?

Maintenance Management

Mileage, engine-hours and date-based maintenance reminders, linked to your fleet workshop management system and spare-parts/service history records.

Return on Investment

What Drives the Return

Fuel use

Reduced idling, better route planning and fuel-theft detection can lower fuel consumption. The saving depends on fleet size, routes and driver behaviour.

Idle time

Extended idle-time alerts and driver-behaviour reports cut unproductive time. The actual saving varies by sector (delivery is higher, static security duty is lower).

Speeding and safety

Real-time speeding alerts to the driver and manager dashboard cut speed-related incidents and can unlock fleet insurance discounts.

A plain-spoken note on results

We do not publish assumed savings figures. Actual results vary widely by sector, driver behaviour and fleet age. We provide a free ROI calculator built on your own data — not optimistic estimates.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Quicknet provide GPS vehicle tracking in Abu Dhabi?
Yes. Quicknet Computers supplies, installs and maintains GPS vehicle tracking across Abu Dhabi. We are an established Abu Dhabi-based integrator, ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and ICV certified, operating since 2012.
What hardware options are available for installation?
Three categories: (1) OBD-II plug-and-play units for a 5-minute install with core data. (2) Hardwired units for a 15–45 minute install with full features including CAN-bus and fuel sensors. (3) Battery-powered magnetic asset trackers for heavy vehicles, trailers and unpowered assets. We recommend the right option for each vehicle in your fleet.
How often does the tracking update in real time?
Typically every 10–30 seconds while moving, and every 5–15 minutes while stationary. The platform includes a live map, geofence entry/exit alerts, harsh-braking, speeding and idle-time alerts, and historical trip playback.
Do you offer a free site survey and quote for GPS vehicle tracking in Abu Dhabi?
Yes. We provide a free on-site survey and a written quotation for GPS vehicle tracking projects in Abu Dhabi.
Do you provide maintenance and AMC for GPS vehicle tracking?
Yes. We offer annual maintenance contracts (AMC) and after-sales support for GPS vehicle tracking, delivered by our own certified in-house engineers with fast local response.
Is the system TDRA type-approved, and do you claim an official partnership with any platform?
GPS devices installed in the UAE must comply with TDRA device type-approval; we install approved equipment but are not the certifying body. We also do not claim a Gold- or Platinum-level partnership with any telematics platform (Teltonika, Queclink, Concox, Calamp, Geotab, Samsara, Mix Telematics, Webfleet, MoveOn or Cartrack) — we are an independent, brand-neutral integrator.
Why choose Quicknet for GPS vehicle tracking in Abu Dhabi?
Quicknet is ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and ICV certified, has operated since 2012 from three branches in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, and delivers GPS vehicle tracking end-to-end - design, supply, installation and support.
Can the system integrate with Salik, Darb, fuel cards and ERP software?
Some platforms can match Salik and Darb trips against GPS trips, but we do not operate Salik or Darb ourselves — these are separate RTA-run systems. We do integrate with ENOC and ADNOC Distribution fuel cards, ERP systems such as SAP, Odoo and QuickERP, dispatch systems, and maintenance management. The actual integration scope is confirmed in writing after a site survey.
What return can I expect from GPS vehicle tracking in the UAE?
The return varies widely by sector, driver behaviour and fleet size. Fleets usually look for savings in fuel use, idle time and speeding. We provide a free ROI calculator built on your own data and a written quote, not assumed numbers.
How do I get a quote for GPS vehicle tracking in Abu Dhabi?
Call +971 50 852 9609, message us on WhatsApp, or request a free survey online and we will respond quickly with a written quote.
What are the driver privacy requirements under UAE labour law and PDPL?
UAE labour law and the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) require drivers to be informed in writing that tracking exists and why. We recommend a transparent policy signed by the driver as part of the employment contract or staff handbook. We supply the system — adopting and enforcing the policy is the employer's responsibility, not Quicknet's.
